- "Road Virk" -

– “Big Earth Moving Machines ‘upgrading’ our street -” –

— Steam Roller to the left of me – Two Monster things we used to call ‘Steam Shovels’ dead ahead, Monster Dump Truck in the distance & something actling like the world’s biggest fork lift to the right of the orange and white things warning drivers to avoid falling into deep holes… This was at about 12:33 pm – & I’m impressed at the speed of these guys’ work and how nice they’ve been to us –

-"Road Virk # 02" -

– “Another View of the Steam Roller & Work in Progress.” –

— Today is Garbage Day and this week it’s paper recycling collection day – There’s a hint of our recycling just this side of the steam roller’s tires.

-"Recycling, Butt End of Steam Roller & a wider shot of our driveway connected to our street." -

– “A better shot of where our driveway now connects to the street?” –

— Last Friday I didn’t get a wonderfully framed shot of where our driveway connects to our street – so in keeping with ‘Redundancy R Us’ I took another shot – this time with hints of recycling, steam roller and another Earth Mover behind a utiity pole. The road crew calls in a special truck with a special arm to reinforce the ‘uprightness’ of utility poles when they’re digging close to what they hope is stable ground at the base of those poles.

-"Driveway"-

– “Many Canadians refer to driveways as ‘laneways’ – And this is what our driveway looked like at just before 12:30 pm today -” =

— I took a video of the two big ‘steam shovels’ working together up the street a bit – but WordPress didn’t want to mess with any graphics files that big so you don’t have to suffer through two steam shovels dancing together and not knocking each other out –

– – – – – Yay?

Friday – August 8th, 2025 – We can Access our driveway again. = Whooopeeee?

-Friday, August 8th, 2025 – +29˚C / +85˚F & sunny @ 7:43 pm in New Brunswick, Canada – Uhhh – Gary Chomic’s { SP?} Birthday And I think it was Sheila Beamon’s {SP?} Birthday, too –

- Driveway, Construction Evidence & Caution Tape-

– “@ 5:59 pm. My Favourite Person parked our Rogue in our drieway – Yay!” –

— We made sure our next door neighbour, who let us park in her second driveway – that used to be the driveway to a woodworking workshop – had room to park beside our car in our driveway. – This is a much bigger thing than you might guess. We were afraid we’d have to leave our car parked on the next street all weekend – where we couldn’t see it from here – where it might be in danger of people or bears trying to smash their way in for something they might imagine might be worth breaking and entering for???

Sixx feet tall guys working in the pit in front of our neighbour's driveway @ 10:35 am this morning

-“@ 10:35 am this morning -there was about an eight feet deep pit in front of our neighbour’s driveway -“

— When construction began on Monday – our next door neighbour let us park in front of the cement block building that used to be her husband’s grandfather’s wood working shop – you can’t see their garage like building that is now storage for our neighbours’ whole extended family. And the guys in that pit are something like six feet tall – each.

Not a real good photo of our non-driveway access at 10:36 am this morning.

– “I took this photo quickly and could have framed it a lot better – but -“

— And at 10:36 am this morning the hole in front of out driveway wasn’t as spectacular as the pit in front of our neighbour’s driveway – But a four foot drop to a sudden crash against a future storm drain and cover wouldn’t have made our Rogue feel loved – and I wasn’t fully awake enough to take a couple more photos that could have shown this better – but the guys were already working and had been since about 7:00 am and I didn’t want to make them nervous –

Our driveway in the foreground and the newly finished ramp up to it -

– ” At about 4:30 pm – We had just about given up hope that we could go rescue our car and bring it home to our driveway – but when I got brave and walked outside with my iPhone – I saw that we actually had access all the way t Canada Street. -” –

— Yay – The brown-ish stuff in the foreground is the street end of our driveway, and the blue-ish grey stuff is the newly worked and heavily crushed in place ramp {their steam roller shook the whole neighbourhood every time they moved it} but Mercury still is retrograde for a couple more days – and after messages told me I couldn’t survive without the next update to Firefox this site looked like the update ignored all the settings – at least on the laptop with the latest and ‘greatest’  {{???}} Mac operating system.

-This is what the blog is suppose to look like-

– “This is what this ‘Jernil’ blog is supposed to look like,” –

— Above is what the “New Jernil” WordPress blog has looked like all along { except for today’s entry being there } –

- And this is what the 'Jernil' looks like after it's "gotta have it' update on the latest Mac OS on a decent MacBook Pro -

– ” Und ziss is vhat dis zame blog looks like on much newer laptop with latest Mac Operating system after today’s Schnarr update.” –

— To Euphemize a new expession used on the latest issue of Wired Magazine –  Above is what the ‘En-poop-ified’ latest update on my newest laptop made dis blog look like. Grumble grumble grumble….

Monday – December 9th, 2024, -8˚C / +18˚F , Dark and Cloudy @ 10:30 pm Atlantic Time in Atlantic Canada –

– Monday, December 9th, 2024 -8˚C / +18˚F, Dark & Cloudy @ 10:30pm Atlantic Time, = here in Atlantic Canada, A.K.A. the Maritimes – { WordPress doesn’t like the word ‘Maritimes’ } & it’s my first natural born next generation cousin, Kathy’s Birfday for another hour and a half here – little bit longer where she is. I was working as the { Nickname: ‘Gopher’ } @ the Bridgeport Post Newspaper when she was born – I told one of the women who worked on the ‘Society’ page of the Sunday Edition – about my brand new cousin – and she sort of interviewed me – found a photo of my Aunt, Claudia, {Kathy’s mother} somewhere in the paper’s ‘Morgue’/archives – and ran a little article about the happy occasion. I didn’t expect that } <— Redundancy is like Deja Vu all over again, like Deja Vu all over again?

A guy I worked with.

-“I worked with this guy in the US Postal System – before I fell in love with a Canadian and told myself I didn’t have to put up with the Postal Supervisors insane bullying. I couldn’t stand watching ice-holes pick on people who were vulnerable while some of the best and nicest and most dedicated people in the world delivered the mail -“

— Jay Moran, above, was one of the very good ones. He and a group of his closest work friends made working in the US Post Office system almost tolerable in spite of the jerks who wanted to sabotage the Post Office and sell it off to Private industry.

— The ‘manager’ of the Stratford, Connecticut Branch of the Bridgeport, Connecticut post office, vandalized a parking garage because he was pissed off  over the fact that parking had always been on a first come, first served, basis. He believed that as a supervisor his exalted position warranted a reserved parking spot just for him. When the grievances were filed and the supervisors and Post Master realized they probably could not win his case, he snarled about that and told everybody in a morning lecture that he had decided to let the old ways continue.

— He also sent an African American Custodian out to buy stuff at a hardware store and laughingly told one of the injured guys on light duty to quickly go and grab that custodian’s parking spot so he’d have to park out on the side street, and when the custodian got back from that errand and did park on that street, the manager called the Stratford Police Department and demanded they ticket people parking in the street because they were preventing legitimate customers from access to good parking.

— The same manager couldn’t stand the idea that two African American women clerks could sit on stools while they worked when he had been told by the higher up the food chain supervisor he called ‘They Psycho” {Second supervisor in the hierarchy below the Post Master – that if he { the psycho ] ever caught him { the manager, also nicknamed ‘The Snake” } if the [psycho ever caught the snake sitting on his [ butt ] while the letter carriers were working to get their routes together and get out in time to finish in time – He { the snake } would be flipping hamburgers for a living. The two women – one was six months pregnant and the other had just had planter warts surgically removed from her feet. – The manager/snake invented a false complaint from a customer who – the snake said – found the pregnant woman asleep at the counter and when he woker up, she was verbally abusive to him { the make-believe customer }. I was the clerks’ steward – the snake told me about the letter, I said, “Show me the letter, I’ll write to that guy and explain that she’s six months pregnant – and -” the snake looked at me, shook his head, disgusted, and walked away – two weeks later he told me he “had to remove the stools from behind the counter because he got a complaint from a customer – et cetera, like he thought I would forget his earlier attempt to sell me the same lie? I responded the same, “Let me see the letter – I’ll write to the guy and explain that those two women have to sit down, one’s six months pregnant and the other just had surgery on her feet -” and he walked away shaking his head again. And then, less than a week later – he { the snake }  looked at me, and went to the counter and then – singing a little nonsense song to himself to make sure I noticed what he was doing – he walked away from the counter swinging the two stools as he walked to his office where he hid the stools from the clerks. I filed a grievance – and with my detailed written witness account listing his lies and continued attempts to remove the stools, and other witness account to the ‘psycho’ threatening the ‘snake’ with losing his job – the supervisors above the snake in the post office supervisory food chain wouldn’t let that grievance get to anywhere where that kind of racist shenanigans could be made public.

—And, during his on going campaign to get the African American Custodian fired – and/or ‘give him the treatment’ to the point where he’d quit – He, and the Psycho – wanted to get rid of a Hispanic American Letter Carrier – the snake unlocked the windows on the carrier’s jeep at least twice while no one was watching, but the carrier did notice that the windows were not locked each time, wondered if somebody had used his jeep to deliver special delivery stuff before the carriers came to work, and forgot to lock the windows closed the first time, and the carrier wondered if he’d been so distracted that he didn’t lock the windows back up the second time – and there was one street on his route with a hill, he’d have to go up and over the hill and would lose sight of the jeep for several minutes while he delivered the mail on the other side of that hill { And the carriers were all told where they had to park their jeeps where supervisors cruising around, checking on them, could spot their jeeps and know where they were, know whether they were on time or not and know they weren’t ‘goofing off’-  hiding somewhere – When the Hispanic letter Carrier came back up over the hill both the snake and the ‘psycho’ were trying their damnedest to pull the windows open so they could charge the carrier with ‘Failure to properly preserve the sanctity of the mail in his charge-‘ which – the psycho had already told me what he could do to get rid of dead weight – would be one more step they could charge him with to eventually get him fired for not working up to the standards the post office required of its employees. When he got to his jeep and the snake and the psycho were standing there, the carrier asked, “Can I help you with something?” and the snake and the psycho hissed and snarled and stomped off to their car and drove away,

— -My skin wasn’t thick enough to put up with the insane bullying done by too many US Post Office Supervisors – But the conscientious, dedicated guys who delivered the mail, sorted the mail and packages behind the scenes, and worked the counter and sold stamps and other post office services, were danged nice people.

— I could believe in those nice people and tell myself there was enough good in the post office – but the supervisors who lied on official documents and tried to get away with vandalizing to try to get themselves a designated parking space – and sent people off their prescribed routes so they could be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time – That wore me down – I came down with pneumonia three times in two years and my doctor said, maybe I should think about getting a job with less stress.

— And then somebody who needed love and attention and positive reinforcement told me she loved me and I tried to make that work, in New York State – five hundred miles away. And while I was five hundred miles away the snake tried to have me arrested for vandalizing the jeeps that were in the carrier’s lot. One of the carriers told me about that a couple years later while I was visiting family ‘back home’.

"The Fifth"

“Our Driveway, wasn’t quite this pretty today-“

— Within the past couple days – we got a little more snow than what shows above – and learned that our snow blower is on strike –  but the driveway was clear enough to satisfy the love of my life and that really matters. { I didn’t go outside and take any iPhone photos while there was enough daylight to say so -}

"One of the two laptops working over-time"

-“One of two laptops working overtime to try to keep up with me…” –

— The above laptop – with its two larger additional monitors is on my left side right now, north of me? – I’m facing east, with another laptop and its two external monitors working just as hard as the monitors to the north – the laptop to the east is something like six months younger than the one to my left.

—Details? okay – the tall slim monitor to the right in the above photo – plays host to two pages of “Open Office” writer – the free version that, thankfully, is NOT “Micro-Schnarr  Wyrd” the tall monitor {well, it’s a wide monitor that doesn’t mind being tipped on its side } Holds two pages that I can copy and paste back and forth from the top page to the bottom or bottom to top. the 4K monitor on the left should be handy for messing with photos and screen shots that I’ve been trying to incorporate into a WordPress ‘Blog’ – and/or – the 4K monitor can hold apps and pages that hold email and other things that I want to use to find and attach paragraphs and graphics to email messages that are responses to friends, family, and extended family. { I could qualify for the position of poster boy for health care Public Service ads that support the message, “Multi-Tasking’ Definitely IS  a very dangerous threat to your health and peace of mind.” }

— That’s not all. While I’m copying and pasting stuff into one of my blogs and editing stuff that I think is important over there on the left – The really important writing stuff is to the east, on the other laptop, in in front of me. I’ve got something that I thought I could finish editing and maybe even self-publish and send out as holiday presents to people who might appreciate the fact that I finished something and published it, but would probably rather sit at a table and accept the cold wet bean from the baby J.D. Salinger mentioned near the end of ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ – or even undergo dental surgery without an anaesthetic than read ‘hard copy’.

— Now here’s the problem – With the latest ‘you gotta have this’ updates and upgrades to the operating systems on both these laptops – they no longer keep the batteries fully charged. They believe they’re clever as hell as they answer, ‘How the fupp do I turn off the b.s. pain in the rump routine where-in you ice-holes believe that not keeping my laptops’ batteries fully charged is the most wonderful idea you idiots have had and implemented since Steve Jobs probably walked away from your Corporate bull-chips shaking his head, thinking he should have shot most of you instead of letting you join the company the two Steves so lovingly gave birth to?’ —> Um, they answer legitimate questions without the nasty descriptive attacks on their integrity – with double talk and patting themselves on their backs, bragging about how wonderful their idea is and saying the laptop batteries don’t like being charged over capacity or even being kept up to full charge … but older laptops never had a problem remaining fully charged, and never developed problems that made using them an exercise in incredible frustration:

— But don’t’cha think it might be just as easy and even more wonderful to add a couple lines of programming to their routines and Not try to charge the bleep bleep batteries when they’re fully charged, but get the danged things up to full charge and let them sit and dream and – Or maybe even add a manual switch to let the stupid power from the ‘charger’ run the computer while it’s connected – and only charge the stupid batteries when they need a charge?

— Ya know how I know that their cutesy poo question-deflecting bull-chip non- answers to ‘How do I turn off your gawd danged “Charging is on Hold because you rarely use your computer on battery only” fupping message?’ —> Because when the gawd awful batteries have only been recharged to 80% the 4 K monitor blinks off and on – more off than on – so it’s basically un-useable. I can’t do anything while the screen is black because I can’t move the bleepitty bleep bleep mouse cursor to where it needs to be to help me edit, select, copy and/or paste anything – and when I move something to the laptop’s ‘built-in display’/monitor – it’s too fupping small – I need a gawd danged magnifying glass to read anything on that screen.

— Remember when Apple Computer’s greatest claim to fame was that it was a lot more user-friendly than the alternatives? I do. Apple went to hell when they tried to be friends with Bill Gates and allowed him to include his internet exploder browser with the bundle of new software that came with new computers. & That was before he publicly admitted that he believed this world would be a lot better off if the powers that believe they should be in charge of everything went and reduced the population of this world back down to something like under 500,000,000, or maybe even 500,000 – { Look that up. } & – Remember when Monsanto’s radio ads called itself the ‘Grocer to the World” instead of what we’re getting now = “Either we stop Monsanto or Monsanto will be the end of the Human Race.”

— Some smug ice-hole would probably sneer at me and say, “The solution to your problem is simple, upgrade to the latest computers with the latest operating system… and blah blah blah -” Yeah – right. buy me a new super computer that I can’t afford – every year and that won’t even shut the morons up …

— Planned Obsolescence is a Crime in France, and should be – Everywhere! —

Sunday – August 27, 2023 —> Back home after a mostly happy eventful week bopping around the Province …

-Sunday, August 27th, 2023 – +19˚C / +68˚F & Partly Cloudy @ 7:07 pm Atlantic Time in New Brunswick, Canada –

- "Cathi Smiling At Lakeside Cottage" -

“Cathi enjoying herself at a lakeside cottage in Maxwell, New Brunswick’

— It was so good to see Cathi relaxed and enjoying our stay at a cottage on the lake where her ex-mother-in-law –  and her children’s grandmother had a cottage for many years. Her Registered Nurse Daughter planned the week and chose two cottages – one on this lake and the other very close to the beach in Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick. Cathi got to swm in the lake at the first cottage and in the North Atlantic Ocean { / Northumblerland Strait? } at the second.

- Lake around sunrise -

– “Lake a bit affter a cloudy sunrise- 07:12am” –

— I woke up early enough to go outside on the cottage’s deck and do my Yoga exercises and Meditate while everyone else was sleeping – On Tuesday morning, the 22nd of August – I was greeted by a Loon calling out to the morning and/or one of its buddies – or maybe warning rivals away from its territory? And then a crow made weird noises in a tree somewhere in a direction nowhere near the Loon. Anyway the lake was glassy smooth and the chill was refreshing.

- Lake In Maxwell, New Brunswick - Early morning - with fog In Distance -

– Same Lake – in Maxwell,New Brunswick, from the same cottage’s deck- this time at 06:25 am – with fog in the distance –

— Wednesday Morning, Aprés Yoga – Same Lake, same angle – I stepped closer to the ‘railing’ { ? } – It was a bit chillier – { +8˚C = about 48˚F } – And the fog in the distance was curling up from the lake’s surface –

- Three Freinds On the Cottage's Deck -

– Three Friends on the deck at the cottage –

— Cathi’s daughter { centre } with her husband { on the right/her left } and her long time best friend { on the left/her right } –  {{{ The CBC network news channel did another exposé today on the evils of facebook selling private information to the highest bidders —> So, if you know us – you know their names. }}}  {{ maybe I should add a smiley face sticking its tongue out here and maybe, “Nyaaaa!” aimed at facebook? }}

- Cute Sign Number One -

– Cute Sign Number One –

- Cute Sign Number Two -

– Cute Sign Number Two –

— There were several cute / amusing signs at the Lake Cottage – at least two explaining the Rules of spending time at the lake —> all variations on enjoying yourself, laughing, being silly; relaxing and enjoying yourself. I thought the two signs above were worth noting.

- Beach At Low Tide -

– Cathi on the beach on Northumberland Strait / one of the warmest beaches in the North Atlantic –

— We checked out of the Lake Cottage and drove to the Cottage near the beach on the Northumberland Strait – The day we made the drive Cathi went swimming with her daughter, son-in-law, and her daughter’s best friend while I played hermit and stayed behind, nursing my nervous stomach – Cathi said the tide was coming in around 4 pm on that first day – and I came along and took some photos on our second day at that cottage – With possible heavy rain forecast for later that evening – { forecast to start around 7:00 pm } – just before one pm we walked the short distance from the cottage to the beach and this was an expansive private beach with a public beach – I don’t know – half a mile or a mile to the right of the above photo here –

- oops - Apres Splash -

– Um, A sudden wind blew my hat off my head and when I reached for it – my iPhone took a dive –

— Walking in less than knee deep water, beside my step-son-in-law – A sudden gust knocked my hat off my head and when I tried to grab it before it hit the water my iPhone thought it might like a cool refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean – As I picked the phone up from – uhh – under maybe eight inches of sea water – it took the above photo all by itself – or maybe I touched the ‘take a photo’ button without realizing it-. those spots are not an invading force of UFOs – they’re water droplets. Cathi thought this shot would make a cool background photo. —> Not long after the camera took a dive – I stepped suddenly into a bit of slightly deeper water and lost my balance and while I tried t remain upright – the water had other ideas – and I took an unplanned dip in the glorious north Atlantic with the iPhone in my pocket – and learned not too long afterwords that the old “set the phone in rice to dry it off” trick actually works – it took about eighteen hours but the phone stopped complaining every time I tried to connect it to my laptop – { the iPhone was complaining that there was moisture in the connection port and trying to charge it or do anything else might damage the phone irretrievably } – { oops – next time I wanna go wading in the ocean with my iPhone or anything else that might be water sensitive – I promise I will have anything like that safely riding in a water-proof pouch. }

- Goofy Selphie -

– Goofy Selphie –

— I don’t take a lot of selphies with my iPhone – This one looks like it defaults to a wide angle persepctive that shrunk Cathi’s head and made the rest of her look like a weight lifter – If she hates it I will delete this photo – It didn’t look bad on the phone’s library of what I just shot –

- Telephoto shot of tall ship in the distance -

– Telephoto Shot of a Tall Ship in the distance –

— Saturday – between rain showers – we went to a nearby restaurant for lunch & it was “Yum!” – Fresh fish. The above photo was taken with my iPhone at about its telephoto limit, I rested the phone on what looked like a post that had once been part of a dock that maybe went out into the water but retired and was re-purposed near the restaurant – The ocean/strait was calm at the time – but we thought the tall ship might have sought refuge in the strait to ride out a storm that probably wasn’t all that calm at the time.

- "Not all Who Wander Are Lost" -

– “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” –

— The beach cottage had more artistic decorations – less cuteness hanging on the walls – but that “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” Message was poignant. —> Makes for a decent ‘Moral’ to this ‘story’. 🙂

~~~~~ Jim
P.S. I just checked this ‘post’ to see what it looked like and to catch any typoes I might have missed and after years of sharing wonderful tweets from friends and decent artists and photographers — It looks like the new management at twitter got their heads so far up their ‘you-know-what’s’ that they’ll never get a glimpse of anything like reality outside the narcissistic world of beedy grastard-ness. SCHNARR!
Thursday – February 9th, 2023 – “Deer Cam” / Security Cam Monitor –
Thursday – February 9th, 2023 – Audrey Moskwa’s birthday? –
Security Cam Monitor -
– “Brilliant Sunlight @ 1:10 pm Atlantic Time – No Deer on the Deer Hill -” –
— I was on my way to get something to eat when I noticed how gorgeous the scenes coming through our ‘Deer and Raccoon Cams’ were on the ‘Security Cam’ Monitor –
Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 – Cathi got to swim :) –
Saturday – June 3rd, 2022 – 3 something in the afternoon – it was +25˚C / +77˚F & not humid at all —
Cathi At Killarney Lake, taking a photo
– Cathi after swimming in Killarney Lake – Taking a photo with her smart phone –
— After missing several chances to go swimming this summer { & she really wanted to take a dip in the ocean while we were on P.E.I. – but it was either raining or we had to be somewhere  🙁 } Cathi finally got to go jump in a lake here – maybe north of the Fredericton, NB city limits? Maybe just inside the borders?
Killarney Lake - showing lifeguard station and cloud formation
– The clouds were interesting – and the lifeguards were on duty –
— I think this might have been the last weekend before school starts – I wanted to get the clouds and as much of the beach as I could and still be unobtrusive – didn’t want to bother anybody or scare any young women into thinking I was trying to get snooping shots of their cleavage { Does anybody use that word any more? } – I knew I missed interesting photos of a happy little dog riding on the bow of a stand up paddle board – but – I did get the clouds, and I hope I didn’t bother anybody.
Killarney Lake
– Killarney Lake is not a huge lake – But Cathi said the water was just perfect –
— And there were little bits of stories posted on what might have been four by four posts that had been driven into the ground with maybe three feet showing above the ground. I thought some – if not all – of those stories were from Traditional First Nations Historic story tellers.
Tuesday, August 12th, 2022 —> +17˚C / +64˚F & Mostly Cloudy @ 9.54 am in Atlantic Canada –
Van Gogh 360 Exhibit photo
– August 9th – Charlottetown, P.E.I., Canada – “Van Gogh 360” Immersive Exhibit –
— I’ve got a lot to catch up with – but I’ve been so insanely bogged down with silly little things that needed attention – that by the time I sat down to write anything my brain went blank. { Schnarr – }
— But we did go to Prince Edward Island on August 8 through 10 and experienced the Van Gogh 360 Exhibit in Charlottetown – which was amazing – There are quite a few photos posted on facebook { on my ‘jim.wellington.33’ account. } There’s some other stuff above that post – I think it’s the fifth one down that was posted on August 12th – if you count the top one that doesn’t begin with the date, but starts with “Et puis – And Finally-”
Yard work to date
– “Yard Work To Date” August 15th –
— On the Home Front… We dug a trench along the western foundation of our house here { shown covered in ‘river rocks’ beneath the square black garbage can above } on the hottest, most humid days we’ve experienced since moving here nine years ago – I had to knock off early on several days while Cathi kept at it – and I spent several days with stomach muscle pains and guilt – but we got this much done and we’ll have more to do in the coming days.
— I’ve come to the conclusion that keeping up with television network news can be dangerous to your peace of mind. And every time I hear someone use the phrase “Mentally ill” I wish they’d come up with a more accurate description – I haven’t seen evidence of anybody’s brain literally throwing up yet – Several people have been known to spew verbal garbage around but that doesn’t necessarily make them ‘mentally ill’ or even ‘unbalanced’. Russia – especially under the Soviet style of ‘government’ had the attitude that anybody who spoke up against their government had to be crazy and locked them up in ‘mental hospitals’. The phrase ‘Mental Hospitals’ conjures images of ‘virtual institutions’ that probably never get closer to any concrete reality than maybe a drawing { in crayon? } but might be vivid in some autocrat’s imagination as a place to lock ‘enemies’ up so they { the autocrat } can stay in power.
— A Psychiatrist named Frankl said something along the lines of, -It isn’t our quirks or idiosyncrasies that make us ‘crazy’ – it’s the fear that people who are important to us believe there is something radically wrong with us.- { With the way we think? With the things we think about?  Or the way we express our thoughts? With the idea that we are not afraid to think about things that scare the ‘living cement’ out of the accusers? } Sometimes I think that anybody who accuses anybody else of being out of their minds is probably a lot crazier than the person he or she is accusing.
— I mean if the powers that think they be can accept the idea that people they used to call ‘retarded’ are more accurately described as ‘intellectually challenged’ and even that misses the mark – because most IQ tests only measure language and math skills when there are at least 7 different types of real intelligence – spacial intelligence – interpersonal intelligence – imagination? – musical intelligence { which uses advanced memory skills as well as mathematical skill and physical co-ordination and emotional intelligence? } {{ to name a few }} – and how about the difference between people who can think ‘outside the box’ to come up with solutions to problems that dyed in the wool orthodox thinkers can’t imagine?
— Um – yeah, back to ‘mental illness’ – People who grow up with abusive parents – especially psychologically abusive parents – may be more inclined to doubt their sanity than people who grow up with loving, nurturing parents – { if there really are any loving, nurturing parents who are able to overcome the stress of ‘modern life’ to be able to express their love, acceptance and encouragement on a day to day basis – } Hearing a raging alcoholic bombard your developing mind, personality, and self esteem with something like, “You belong in a nuthouse -” “You kids could drive a saint to swear-” “What the [ eff? } is wrong with you?” – Or how about authority figures who sneer at you and literally say things like “People like you don’t deserve to breath the same air as { white people? people who belong to a culture’s accepted religion? – people who subscribe to the political values that the speaker embraces? } … I’ve heard of authority figures and ‘wanna be’ authority figures who have told young people that they really should go home and kill themselves – for reasons unspoken and/or that wouldn’t sound at all reasonable to anybody with a functioning brain and ‘heart’.
— Ehh – sorry – I’d really like to be 1,000% positive and encouraging without dwelling on the fact that there really are abusive people in this world and many of them should never be given a license to become parents or even baby sitters.
— Schnarr –
— Have a wonderfully good life anyway? –
Sunday – February 6th, 2022 —> -8˚C /+17.6˚F @ 3:15 pm in Atlantic Canada – { Was my aunt Phylis’ Birthday 🙂 }
Draeydan & Shelley at Daybreak
– Latest couple of characters from my latest NaNoWriMo novel –
— { I was shocked to see how good the above screen shot looks on a gaming monitor. }
Path to Deer Hill
– Snow-Blown path from tool shed to ‘Deer Hill’ { Taken from squatting down low – The snow piles are not over our heads } – Photo taken yesterday, February 5th, 2022. –
— Um, we do not live in igloos in Canada – We do need air conditioners in the summer … { And “Wellington Court” was named after someone whose middle name was Wellington { Last name was Pond – The street began with five houses in a cluster – all inhabited by families related to each other – whose  last name was Pond. }
— Haven’t done much with my Genealogy blog —> https://aerendel.ca/DNA-Tree/ <— Looked up the spelling on my Aunt Phyl’s name and got lost – didn’t find it.
— The other night I was at my living room computer { One of several computers – the living room computer is hooked up to a really good set of speakers that we use to listen to live podcasts from time to time } — I heard something and turned to watch a colander jump up and slide down the wall behind our living room wood stove. … The love of my life subscribes to a friend’s Psychic podcast and has asked questions from time to time. … This house has some very unusual acoustic qualities. People talking to each other a couple streets away sound like they’re in the next room – I’ve heard our sadly deceased Labrador ‘Boof’ clipping down the hall now and then { and felt my favourite orange cat jump on my arm two years after he dropped his physical body and went off to play in the happy hunting grounds 🙂 } … a really sensitive psychic said that was because we live in a spot with a bowl shaped sort of spiritual amphitheatre – where curious inter-dimensional beings sometimes stop by to check the place out – when my love asked who played with the colander the psychic source rattled off a series of names including my cousin’s { Joan Pond’s } name – { Her birthday was last week – {{ Happy Birthday Joan! }}  } – Which prompted me to check out her net presence and she’s still with us {{{ Yay! }}} — But hey, if you’re  growing telekinetic talents – tell me about it, Cuz – }} {{{ Or was it one of the Ponds who lived on this street in the past dropping by and saying hello? }}}
— until next time…
Saturday, January 15th, 2022 –
– Saturday, January 15th, 2022 —>  -17˚C / +1˚F – a bit windy @ 7:30 am – and, no, we did NOT get a foot of snow yesterday 🙂 – & Today is Jenny Leigh’s { & Doctor Martin Luther King’s } Birthday –
— & After the latest ‘critical’ update to WordPress weighed in around a version number I thought was a lot higher… the latest version says it’s “5.8.3” ???  —> Or, have I slipped into some weird parallel universe? —> that might explain a lot…
– “@ 07:38 this morning – I was happy to see that we did not get a foot of new snow yesterday and/or overnight.”
— I made sure I was awake enough to go get gas for the van and the snowblower and picked up two bags of whole oats for our critters from the Co-op. { There are two or three deer in the photo above – if you can see them you’re amazing. }
— My usual winter allergies have been ravaging me lately – I can hardly get through a day without feeling like the usual post nasal drip will be activating reverse peristaltic reactions any time, anywhere. We’re both  incredibly careful and hardly move out of the house for anything. So, while our idiot ‘Premier’ { if this was the USA he’d be a ‘Governor’ or other ‘Chief Elected State Official’ } –  has an annoying history of – for instance – delivering disinformation – Like the time he said he’s had all his shots and doesn’t need a mask — & when he shows up to deliver that kind of disinformation with a gaggle of bobble heads standing behind him wearing acrylic face shields without masks – I wonder why nobody screams at him that those stupid face shields are totally freakin useless unless they’re accompanied by one or two surgical masks – or an N-95 mask that is properly fitted to the wearer’s face. { To be fair – the definitely political moron is probably getting his information from another radically misinformed idiot. } … We are happy to self isolate and keep self monitoring for new and/or unusual symptoms and, so far – have not come into contact with anything like ‘weaponized’ Chinese Viruses – Both Cathi and I have had our three shots { The booster didn’t even cause a minor ache this time and might have left us slightly more drowsy than whatever our ‘normal’ is … } and we’re both confirmed Introverts who do not need a lot of physical or even social contact with other human beings to enjoy life or feel good about ourselves  – As a matter of fact – we’ve both been bullied by corporate stooges and other insane high authoritarians way too often —> to the point where we feel a lot better having nothing to do with them.
– Two Characters from my latest NaNoWriMo Novel –
— “Draeydan” { left } & Shelley { Right } lit by a camp fire at daybreak in the game world – I thought this screen shot looked amazing on my gaming monitor. { Taken at 02:38 am on Thursday the 13th of this month }
– “I set my iPhone down on the porch desk while I climbed out of my winter jacket and it took this photo-” –
— Um, that’s some stacked scraps of lumber unretouched – the colour is from the grow light that is keeping quite a few plants amazingly happy on our porch 🙂
– “& I took this photo at 11:25 am yesterday – in anticipation of having some radical before and after shots while the weather people were forecasting a big dump of a foot or more of snow -” –
— This was just before I jumped in the van and went out on a mission to gas the van and fill an empty gas can because we fully expected to be struggling valiantly against a raging blizzard. Also picked up two bags of whole oats to keep our friends alive…
– & Dat’s me in a Christmas Present that was ‘guaranteed’ to get here by December 23rd, and finally made it on the fifth of January –
— Egad that guy looks scary …
— Ehhh – So I’m sorry but I haven’t even looked at ‘effbook’ more often than once or twice a month – and generally find a couple dozen missed messages with expired links to deleted photos and stuff – But Dang! I love this crazy human race and pray our next pandemic slaps us in the soul with some kind of amazingly contagious common sense.
– – – – –  Love Anyway!
Updating Characters as I’m re-writing here –
Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 —> +1˚C / +33˚F & the weather app thinks we’re experiencing ice pellets /sleet – but I don’t see that – @ 2:32 pm Atlantic Time.
Shelley Got Dressed
– “Shelley at Seventeen”  – Her comment? “The Green light makes my red hair look weird – But I like the glasses.” { & she got to choose her own clothes after a ‘nicer’ person got a hold of the game world software and let her make her own choices. – but that would fall under ‘spoiler alert’ -;) – } –
— Yeah, I wanted to find a more ‘character friendly’ ‘photo’ for the beginning of the story line – { Shelley didn’t have a say in what her avatar wore when her manipulating cousin scanned her in to the software at his university when she was fifteen – Then her cousin uploaded screen shots from the game and posted them – and back at school – the bullying ‘popular girls’ found the screen shots and added ammunition to their character assassination plot and wrote ‘Slut’ in very red lipstick on her locker with a printout of the screen shot taped below that. }
Draeydan at seventeen
– “Draeydan at seventeen” { Shelley’s idea – after she found out she didn’t have to run around in the game world looking like she’d freeze to death at the slightest breeze – she had somebody help her scan Draeydan into the system and then she got to pick what he wore. 🙂 } His hair is darker than that – The computer guy admitted the software has a couple ‘glitches’. –
— Draeydan is not her manipulative cousin. He’s a supportive friend { maybe more than friends? – } & He probably wouldn’t want to be caught dead dressed like that –
Shelley in Faery Land
– “Shelley in Faery Land” { When her older cousin was controlling the backgrounds and not letting her pick her wardrobe. ) –
— The story begins in a ‘parallel word’ where the geography is pretty much the same as it is here – but a lot of names are different – History is slightly different – Benedict Arnold was revered as a hero and George Washington was hung as a traitor. The Capital of New York state is in the same place as Albany is here – but the city’s name is Springfield.
— And a lot of names are spelled differently –
— But bullies are still bullies and all these two sensitive kids want to do is survive high school – finding love along the way might help.
