Tuesday Morning, October 22nd, 2019 —> +1˚C / +34˚F – dawn is coming with some thick fog @ 7:22 am in Atlantic Canada —
— I posted the following { including the attempted explanation of Canadian Politics in terms my friends in the USA can understand & with a couple odd typos edited here … } in a soon to be deleted Yahoo Groups message board I created in Y2K+01 for the Fairfield County chapter of the Connecticut Green party: Yahoo announced that they will be deleting their Groups’ in early December.

Header Photo and Title of the Message Board – This photo was probably taken in the year 2000 – a few yards from ‘BloodRoot” a feminist restaurant in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, Connecticut – Women built the building, cook the food and refuse to wait on anybody, they call your name and you come pick up your meal, and bring back the dishes and cups when you’re finished 🙂 – and that is Ralph Nader near dead center —
Monday, October 21, 2019 was Federal Election Day in Canada.
— Jenica Atwin { @JenicaAtwin on twitter / facebook.com/ELECTJENICA/ on effbook } became the first Green Party Member Of Parliament from Atlantic Canada, & the 3rd Green Party Member of Parliament when the “New Government” will take its seats. There were a lot of scare tactics flying around. Nightly news on some channels repeated main stream ‘logic’ that ‘A vote for a third ( 0r fourth? ) party might allow really bad people to take the reigns of government up here.’
— Federal Green Party Leader { & incumbent } Elizabeth May, and incumbent Paul Manly – both of Vancouver Island, British Columbia – won their seats again to bring the next Parliament’s Green Membership up to 3. Some idiots who believe themselves to be sagely pundits spouted their b.s. opinions that Elizabeth May did not do enough to ‘Further her brand’ – But – given the vindictive tone of very negative nonsense and some ‘fake news’ flying around { Plus a spate of ‘robo calls’ telling people to vote the day after the real elections took place – I mean, jeeze – how can stupid, nasty, dirty tricks like that still happen? The blurb I saw in a crawl didn’t say where those calls were made or who they were aimed at. } Elizabeth May, Paul Manly and Jenica Atwin deserve very nicely polished halos for sticking to their ideals and ethics and running honest, above board, transparent, and entirely positive campaigns in a very toxic environment.
— All the results were not in as of 3 am Atlantic Time { Didja know that Atlantic Canada is an hour ahead of you guys in Connecticut? }
— Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has won a “Minority Government” – meaning the Liberal Party did not secure 170 seats that would be needed for Justin to ‘win’ a second Majority Government status. This means that the 157 Liberal Party MPs may need help from the 24 New Democratic Party MPs { a similarly ‘left leaning’ party } and may need help from the 3 Green Party Members in the form of votes on any contentious issues that may pop up. Their terms in office are not set in stone. A budget bill or other ‘confidence vote’ that fails to receive a majority of votes can lead to a whole new election any time during the 4 years a ‘sitting government’ would hope to stay in power.
— {{{ Canadian politics is quite a bit different from what United States politics looks and feels like. But then again, we don’t have to deal with somebody like your pResident – you know? The guy currently occupying the White House? The one who should have his twittering devices at least hidden on him —> Why do none of his aids hack into his ‘smart devices’ and change the passwords???? }}}
— Some Conservative Party of Canada Leaders may have wanted to emulate that person with the orange hair and challenged spelling skills. & Some candidates who ran under the “Peoples Party of Canada” { aka the “PPC” } openly spouted racist and anti-muslim rhetoric – but luckily, none of them were elected { they were an off-shoot of the Conservative Party of Canada }. & The Conservative Party of Canada hired some high priced consultants to use social media to undermine that offshoot party’s chances to function and make their leader look really bad. Luckily, that backfired, blew up in the Conservative’s faces.
— Ack – I better stop here and post this – Yahoo will delete everything on this Group’s message board in early December – if I keep rambling like this there won’t be a message board to post this to.
— & Hey – everybody down there in Connecticut : If you still believe in facebook and twitter —> log on, find Jenica, Paul, and Elizabeth and lavish them with praise and congratulations. – follow them & send them links to the CT Green Party’s Official Web site. & send thanks and praise to David Coon, the head of the New Brunswick Provincial Green Party, he deserves lots of pats on his back, too. Without him Jenica probably wouldn’t be looking forward to wondering if she can afford to commute back and forth between New Brunswick and Ottawa… How often?
