Sunday – Weaponized Weather?

Sunday, February 1st, 2015 -( -21°C / -6°F  w/-32°C Wind Chill and anticipating another blizzard tomorrow afternoon here in Atlantic Canada @ 11:00 pm Atlantic Time )-

Woodstock.

Oops, I have to include this: “Woodstock – 3 days of Peace and Music”, At Yasger’s Farm outside of Woodstock, New York, In August of 1969. I wasn’t there. My cousin Glenn was, Pushing cars out of mud and flipping the bird to guys with tow trucks and hyper inflated prices.

— Woo– The snow plows didn’t come yesterday, not to our street here very near the Northern Limits of the Greater Fredericton Area. While I was out using the snow blower yesterday, Saturday, my neighbour grumbled that we would be expecting another ‘snow event’ on Monday. I mumbled something about the 15 – 20 cm / 6 – 8 inches of snow we were supposed to get overnight Friday and into Saturday looked more like another 30 cm / 1 foot of snow and he glowered at the snowbanks he’d been dealing with and nodded.

— So today the snow plows came. I’d fallen asleep after being busy with pets and internets and things like that and Cathi woke my up at 6:14 pm to tell me that there was too much snow in our nicely cleared driveway for her to deal with. I told myself I better get myself up and deal with that. I heard a very strange voice, sounded like mechanically altered or something, & in my hypnogogic state, it sounded ‘brown’ and ‘gargled’ & it sounded like a woman/female almost trilling like a cat, calling my name, “-Jim-” I opened my eyes enough to see the time had jumped to 6:42 pm. Still on my ‘gotta get up-‘ kick I began dreaming I was awake and trying to edit articles for one of the blogs I’m supposed to be updating daily. A caption was running across in front of two photos we needed and I was thinking I could deal with the caption, copy and paste- no problem, but could I save the photos? and I dreamed I was dragging those two photos, out from behind the caption, I dream they came attached to mail sample pouches of blue liquid dish soap. One of the packages came along fine, and I dreamed I dragged it off the computer monitor and set it on a real world desk. When I dragged the second photo and its sample pouch of soap, I didn’t see the problem, but a woman said, “Oh shit- it’s leaking” I woke up enough to see that it was about 23 minutes after 7 and this time I did manage to drag myself up and get outside and deal with the snow.

— I had to deal with this snow hump in two stages. When my fingers burned and felt like I’d hit each one with a hammer I decided to head inside for a break. This worked out well, Cathi had just finished cooking dinner and it was Yum! & then I was back outside, chipping away at the tougher half of the snow hump, and then chipping away at the packed -at-least-four-feet-high plateau wall at the end of the driveway, carving I think two feet back into the multi-layered mess to widen the driveway closer to its ‘normal’ size, so Cathi can get in and out more easily.

— And then I heard tomorrow’s forecast. Another Blizzard Warning, this time with 30 – 40 cm / 12 – 16 inches of snow probably starting in the afternoon. This being a hyper busy time for Cathi at work, with everybody she deals with waking up and thinking they better get their last minute contracts out and spend the rest of their budget quickly or lose a good proportion of their budget for next year and beyond, and nobody wants to do that. So Cathi might be driving home through the opening volleys of the third or fourth blizzard in less than two full weeks. I don’t know if the Friday-Saturday event was nasty enough to qualify as a blizzard, it just left us with another foot of snow to deal with.

— As I was carving the grooves through Saturday’s snowfall I became slightly enchanted, looking around, thinking that when I was a kid I would have loved to have a snow fort this big to run around inside of. It’s like we’re carving castle walls around the driveway and walkway here. Cool.

— And- I better post this and go, it’s almost time for the Black List. We get it at 11:15 tonight, Thanks to Tom Brady et al.

— Yay?
